Career Goal

Traditional and computer-assisted visualization, rendering, animation and interactive programs for the medical and biological fields. My primary interest is in producing illustrations that educate and help further the advancement of science and medicine.

Hanover, New Hampshire

Illustration and visual design for interactive educational media. We have recently completed HIV Prevention Counseling: A Client-Centered Approach, a program to orient community-based HIV prevention counselors. I produced illustrations and interface elements for this program. Other duties include standard and interactive (Flash) animation, web design, and graphic design for packaging materials.


August 1998 to May 2000
Medical Illustrator, Med Art & Legal Graphics Co.
Akron, Ohio

Illustration and layout of demonstrative evidence exhibits for use in medical-legal litigation. Also produced short 2D and 3D computer animations for video and digital-video format demonstrative evidence. In an environment of rapid job turn-over and short deadlines, I have proven myself capable of producing a high volume of high-quality work quickly.


June 1997 to August 1997
Internship
Aquatic Pathobiology Center, University of Maryland School of Medicine

Baltimore, Maryland

Conceived, storyboarded, and began production of a short 3D computer graphic animation to be used in a computer-based, interactive, multimedia program to educate middle and high school students about the processes of HIV infection, replication, and transfection.


January 1996 to February 1996
Internship
Golden Gate National Recreation Area, National Park Service

San Francisco, California

Created illustrations for a pamphlet and a wayside sign to inform the public about the threat of their unleashed dogs to the nesting habits of the Western Snowy Plover, a threatened species. Signs are posted along ten miles of Ocean Beach in San Francisco and the pamphlets are available to the public at NPS visitor centers. Also: organized slide collections and assisted with student tours and restoration of natural habitat.

Received and maintained inventory of the museum's bookstore/gift shop. Also packaged and shipped customer orders in a timely manner.


September 1990 to May 1993
Assistant Manager
Graphics Lab, Maryland Institute, College of Art

Baltimore, Maryland

Performed general maintainance of lab equipment, including black and white and color photocopiers, Apple Macintosh computers, and photostat camera. Installed software and ran diagnostic programs on the Macs. Also produced photostatic prints for the public and worked at the service desk.
