Classical New England

 [Up to Gallery]

This was the first adirondack chair I painted for the annual Hannah House auction; it received one of the highest bids of 2006! Inspired by red figure and black figure pottery from Greek antiquity, the chair is decorated with scenes of New England flora, fauna, and activities. The back is decorated in black figure style with loons, bears, moose, and hemlock branches. The uprights are decorated with crows and birch trees, with white accents. The legs are painted in red figure style with summer activities (hiking, fishing, biking, kayaking) on one side and winter activities (tobogganing, skiing, snowboarding) on the other.
